SUDDENLY WE LOOKED LIKE GIANTS (2018)

Producer: Brett Cox
Mix Engineer: Nick Taylor
Mastering Engineer: Cicely Balston
Record Label: Phases Records

'Suddenly We Looked Like Giants' is Patrick’s first studio album. Inspired by his childhood home in Sweden, the album is a cinematic journey that explores the parallels and interplay between human nature and the natural world. The title track for instance refers to the long shadows created by the low winter light, but is really about the perceived invincibility of youth. 'Yrsnö', meaning "whirling snow" in Swedish is about the storms we weather within.

The album was released in 2018 to much acclaim, being played on BBC6 Radio, and going on to be picked out as one of the best albums of 2018 by Headphone Commute, alongside Olafur Arnalds, Johann Johansson and Max Richter. Patrick was also featured on Spitfire Audio’s “Ones to Watch” series.

  • “... a real attention grabber” — Electronic Sound
  • “It takes just one listen to recognise how good this record really is, and then it takes another two or three plays to dig into its depths, to hear the familiar motifs, and to truly fall in love.” — Headphone Commute
  • “Suddenly We Looked Like Giants is in turns tender, reflective, nostalgic, and dramatic ~ everything one desires in a film score, unrestricted by imposed cues.” — A Closer Listen
  • “Suddenly We Looked Like Giants is refreshing ... Jonsson’s storytelling power, coupled with his love of rich, warm strings conjures a musical experience that is very clearly defined. It is fitting that now Jonsson is making music that is not set to moving images, cinematic scenes are so readily formed in one’s mind’s eye when listening.” — Louder than War
